Director: Dr. Afroditi Tzifa, Pediatrician

After a 14-year career abroad, Dr. Tzifa returned to Greece in October 2010 and initially served as Director of Interventional Cardiology for Congenital Heart Disease (2010–2013). During this period, rare and highly complex pediatric transcatheter procedures were introduced, including hybrid interventions for hypoplastic left heart syndrome and transcatheter valve implantation in the pulmonary and tricuspid positions. In parallel, a comprehensive cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) program was developed for all age groups, from neonates to adults, along with the establishment of MRI-guided hybrid cardiac catheterization procedures.

Since 2013, she has served as Director of the Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic. Under her leadership, there has been a significant increase in outpatient activity, with approximately 8,000 examinations performed annually. With specialized training in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit and 19 years of experience in perioperative patient care, she staffed the unit and played a key role in training both internal and external physicians in intraoperative and postoperative management.
