Dr. Fotios Archontovasilis

Director of the 6th Surgical Clinic and the Center of Excellence in Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair

General Surgeon

Dr. Archontovasilis is a Consultant General Surgeon, Director of the 6th Surgical Department at Metropolitan General Hospital, as well as Director of the Hospital’s Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery. He has clinical expertise in minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopic and robotic), with a focus on abdominal wall hernia surgery and anal surgery using Laser and Radiofrequency techniques, and holds a PhD from the University of Athens Medical School.
His international training and experience include advanced courses and clinical proctorships in minimally invasive and robotic abdominal wall reconstruction at IRCAD–EITS (Strasbourg, France), Havelklinik Hospital (Berlin, Germany), Imelda Hospital (Bonheiden, Belgium), UZ University Hospital (Ghent, Belgium), Anne Arundel Medical Center and Luminis Health (Maryland, USA), as well as specialized training programs in Vienna (Austria), Naples (Italy), Hamburg (Germany), Bucharest (Romania), and Caesarea (Israel).
In 2021, he received an international distinction and certification by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as Master Surgeon in Hernia Surgery and Surgeon of Excellence in Hernia Surgery. He is an official Trainer/Instructor for the Hellenic Surgical Society and has served as Congress President and President of Organizing Committees for major national and joint symposia in laparoscopic, robotic, and hernia surgery.

 

Dr. Charalampos Spyropoulos

Director of the 3rd Surgical Clinic and the Center of Excellence in Abdominal Wall Hernia Repair

General Surgeon

Dr. Spyropoulos is a Consultant General Surgeon and Director of the 3rd Department of Surgery at Metropolitan General Hospital, as well as Director of the Hospital’s Center of Excellence in Hernia Surgery. He has extensive training and clinical experience in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic techniques, with focused expertise in abdominal wall hernia repair, bariatric and metabolic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, and endocrine surgery.

He has completed advanced training in leading international centers, including IRCAD–EITS (Strasbourg), and has held senior clinical and academic positions in Greece and the United Kingdom, including Senior Clinical Fellow in colorectal surgery at Stepping Hill Hospital, Manchester. He is certified by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as Surgeon of Excellence in Hernia Surgery and holds the title of Master Surgeon in Hernia Surgery. Dr. Spyropoulos is an ATLS-certified Trauma Instructor (American College of Surgeons) and an elected member of the Board of the Hellenic Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery.
